We, at Naugatuck High School, take tremendous pride in the rich tradition of our sports program which provides an exceptional opportunity for personal and team growth. The program of competitive athletics is designed to develop physical fitness and body control, to train in the spirit of good sportsmanship and teamwork, and to provide wholesome fun. Athletes learn to accept responsibility for success or failure, to recognize both limitations and strengths, and endeavor beyond such limitations. Participants learn to deal with strong emotions such as anger, disappointment, joy, frustration, and suspense. Few situations in life offer students an opportunity to recognize and handle such intense feelings while in the public eye. Students athletes in Naugatuck learn about respect, motivation, self-discipline, loyalty, leadership, sacrifice, maximum effort, and a winning attitude, all lessons which are invaluable in our competitive world. Team sports offer a unique opportunity to teach young men and women that working together toward a common goal does accomplish positive and successful results.

Participating on a Naugatuck High School team is considered a privilege. Student athletes are representatives of the school community and are expected to demonstrate personal integrity and morality at all times. Our athletes must do what is ethically right at all times and act accordingly as role models to younger students and as ambassadors to the community that supports them with such vigor.
